Teqja e Dervish Hatixhese is a Sufi Shrine in Tirana, Albania that has served spiritually for about 300 years to people of all religions. This shrine was built after the death of Saint Dervish Hatixhe, where her body was laid to rest. She lived though the bubonic plague in Balkans and as a doctor at the time, she was in the front line helping people to overcome the pandemics. She eventually died from the sickness but not after living her mark in the world, for which she was honored with the title Dervish and she is still remembered. Hundreds of people still visit her shrine daily seeking her spiritual guidance and finding peace in their hearts and minds.

Dervish Hatixhe Yoga Center (DHYC) inspired by Dervish Hatixhe, was founded in April 2020 during the pandemic of Coronavirus, offering yoga for free for the global community.

Ancient History

The history and the story of any nation are important not only for the cultural and traditional contributions that they bring in the history of humanity and the circle of life, but also for learning and growing of all of us. We look back at what happened, we analyze and learn so that as individuals, nations, and human race we do not repeat the same mistakes.

The Story of Albanians is as important as any other nation’s story. And we have the right to tell our story. We should be proud of what our ancestors have contributed into human life on Earth but also put the bar high and get inspired by them to work harder, to learn a lot more and contribute way better, today during our lives for the best of humanity and life on Earth. We owe that to our ancestors, to ourselves, and to the generations to come.
